Similar to the incandescent lamp and dimmable
The dimmable LIGHTME "clear" and "frosted" LED filament lamps have the same glass bulbs as traditional incandescent lamps, which they look confusingly similar to. They have a pleasant warm white light color, give brilliant light and achieve the best energy efficiency class. They can be dimmed from 100 to 20 percent with many commercially available dimmers.

LED filament lamps are almost 100% similar to the good old incandescent lamp in shape, light effect and light distribution. Like the incandescent lamp, LED filaments are available with clear, frosted or opalized (internally painted) glass bulbs and in dimmable versions.

But filament technology also has disadvantages. Filament lamps emit a particularly large amount of light to the sides. They are less suitable for illuminating work surfaces. Due to their design, filament clear glass lamps do not have a perfectly homogeneous light output. Depending on the type of lampshade, shadowing or cast shadows can be seen on surfaces and walls. In narrow or poorly ventilated luminaires, LED filament lamps suffer relatively severely from the increased ambient temperature and they wear out more quickly.

The alternative is the proven conventional LED lamps with SMD LEDs under the frosted cover. They have better thermal management, shine very homogeneously and can deliver high luminous flux (e.g. 150 watt replacement). In many situations where the light source is not directly visible anyway, they are the better choice.
